The hunt is on for the World’s Best Sandwich
Are you ready to put your sandwich-making skills to the ultimate culinary test? The hunt for the world’s most delicious and creative sandwich begins this week, as the ingredients brand Cooks&Co invites foodies and sandwich lovers across the UK to compete in its Worldie Sandwich competition.
The winner of this coveted award will not only achieve the fame and glory of being crowned the Worldie Sandwich Competition Champion 2023, but they will also take home a cool £2,000 cash prize and a year’s supply of Cooks&Co ingredients*. Second place wins £250 and third place wins £100, plus a hamper of Cooks&Co goodies for both runners up.
Anne-Marie Cannon, Cooks&Co Brand Controller, explains what the competition is all about: “We are thrilled to announce the Worldie Sandwich Competition, a platform for sandwich lovers and foodies to create great tasting sandwiches, showcase their talent and be recognized for their creativity and passion.”
She continues: “We believe that sandwiches are more than just great sustenance: when made with love, care and the very best ingredients they are an art form, and this competition gives us the opportunity to celebrate it.”
Live Sandwich Showdown in London
The competition aims to find the most creative sandwich makers, who will be invited to a live sandwich showdown in London on 20th June 2023, where the ultimate sandwich taste test and judging will be conducted by an esteemed panel of experts. Judges include chef and author Jo Pratt, foodie influencer Ollie Eats, and Markus Tribe-Endt, Chief Taster at Cooks&Co.
The criteria upon which all sandwiches will be judged include: originality, taste, presentation, and including one of Cooks&Co ingredients as a key element in the sandwich.
Speaking about how honoured he is to be a judge in the competition, Ollie of Ollie Eats says: “Everyone loves a good sandwich. They’re so versatile and can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and some days I enjoy all three! Every country has its favourite sandwich, and every month there seems to be a new sandwich recipe trending on social media. That’s why I’m so excited to team up with Cooks&Co to help them discover and reward the most incredible sandwiches and their creators!”
How to enter
From baguette to brioche and tofu to turkey, this competition invites people to let their sandwich creativity run wild and explore a world of flavour.
To enter, participants need to create a Worldie sandwich using at least one ingredient from the Cooks&Co core range, which includes Sweety Drop Peppers, Tri Colour Jalapenos, Roasted Red Peppers, Green Chillies, Dried Porcini Mushrooms and Vegan Stuffed Peppers. They may also use any other products from the Cooks&Co range and any other non-Cooks&Co ingredients and produce. There is a world of possibilities to choose from.
Next, they need to simply upload a video/image of their Worldie sandwich creation by 1st May 2023, along with the ingredients and method as a feed post to one social media channel (Instagram, Facebook or TikTok) using the campaign hashtag #WorldieSandwichComp (ensuring their account is set to ‘public’). The top 5 Worldie sandwich creations as chosen by the judges will then go through to the semi-final. The online public vote will take place on the Cooks&Co website between 18.05.23 and 23:59 on 01.06.23. The three entries with the most votes will then be invited to the live final on 20th June to cook for the judges.
